While playing in HeritageQuest I searched for DeLand, FL just to see the articles it had and there were quite a few. I also browsed the publications. I didn't really find much that interested me but if you are into genealogy there are lots of interesting publications out there and I'm sure they would be great sources for information. Some of the family trees where already done up to a certain point. How great would that be to have that information and you just need to add the more current events.
I looked for Bison, SD in the Sanborn Maps and they did not have any record of it. I did check out Custer then and they had a map. I am not real familiar with Custer so could not really locate a building that was still standing. But it was interesting to see what kind of stores used to be open. I also thought it was neat that they had a key that told you what the building was made from. I guess that was a great help to the firemen. Interesting stuff.
Thanks for reporting your exploration here, hopeful. You made some good finds. To find a family tree with the earliest years done would really be a time-saver for a genealogist! Thanks for your comments.
