3.L.3.4. Students are able to examine fossils and describe how they provide evidence of change in organisms.
I was looking for things to do with dinosaurs and fossils to teach children that we can learn things from the past and how things change. I found a very nice article
Down to the Bone.
That I thought the children would find interesting and then another article about how museums build fossil bones to use instead of the real thing to preserve the real thing.
Hopeful, you found good articles to support the standard you chose, and this is a good thing for students to understand. You have cited a state science standard. We are asking you to find Common Core connections to help you prepare for its implementation. What Common Core connection can you make here?

Hi, hopeful! The standard you cite will work very well with the lesson you describe. Very good! I think where the confusion comes in is that you are thinking "science" and are looking at standards that say "English Language Arts." In Common Core, English Language Arts spans all subject areas, because students need literacy training and reinforcement across all subject areas. For example, reading a science book is quite different from reading a novel. So in your science class, you will be integrating reading, writing, and research (English Language Arts) into your science classes. Hope that explanation helps! Thanks!!
